On the morning of December 22, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of Hoa Binh Theater officially took place, with the participation of numerous representatives from government agencies, relevant units, and the media. This is a special milestone in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), 1 and in anticipation of the 12th Congress of the Party Committee of District 10 for the 2025-2030 term.
Le Van Minh, Secretary of the District 10 Party Committee, and Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Chairman of the People's Committee of District 10, along with leaders of the implementing units, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the major renovation project of Hoa Binh Theater.
At the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Tam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of District 10, emphasized the importance of the project in preserving the cultural and historical beauty, and contributing to the cultural development of Ho Chi Minh City.

Hoa Binh Theater, designed by the late architect Huynh Tan Phat, is one of the iconic cultural symbols of Ho Chi Minh City and the entire country, marking a new stage of development after the reunification in 1975. The building, with a total construction area of 9,154.2 m² and 4 floors, has a capacity of over 2,000 seats. It will be renovated and upgraded with a total construction budget of up to VND 270 billion. Phase 1, to be completed by April 20, 2025, will focus on the facade and the auditorium-stage to celebrate the April 30th anniversary. Phase 2, expected to be completed by October 30, 2025, will complete the upgrade of the interior space, surrounding landscape, and technical equipment to meet the diverse needs of various art performances, serving the people; fulfilling the current local political tasks and development orientation, contributing to the implementation of the Resolution of the City Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term on "Building a healthy cultural, artistic, and sports environment, meeting the needs of people; investing in the construction of a number of typical cultural and sports works with regional stature".
