On May 19, in Can Thanh Town, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Can Gio District Cultural and Sports Square Construction Project was solemnly held. The event was attended by representatives from the Can Gio District People’s Committee, the Can Gio District Construction Investment Project Management Board, relevant departments, contractors, and related units.
This highly significant project is being implemented to celebrate two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) and the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025). Upon completion, the project will enhance the cultural and spiritual life of Can Gio residents.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Can Gio Cultural and Sports Square spans 94,414 m², featuring key components such as:
- Central Square (21,221 m²): Includes a main plaza (20,605.3 m²) and a fountain lake (615.7 m²), serving as a public gathering space and a scenic highlight.
- Sports Area (2,504.3 m²): Tennis courts, badminton courts, and a playground.
- Monuments & Functional Structures: A memorial statue, reliefs, storage area (588 m²), reception hall, exhibition house, management office, cafeteria, swimming pool, electrical substation, water tower, waste collection station, restrooms, rest huts, and an observation deck.
- Infrastructure: Greenery (34,945.5 m²), internal roads, parking lots (12,563.2 m²), drainage, electrical systems, fire protection, and surrounding traffic routes (Road No. 5 & Road No. 7).
